GutenAbend

GutenAbend was born during the COVID-19 lockdown as an "online Kantine" — a virtual social club to help people stay connected. Members schedule online meetups, propose ideas for what to do together, and RSVP to join.

Problem: During the 2020 quarantine, people were isolated and craving social interaction. Video call tools existed, but there was no simple place to organise recurring group evenings and let people suggest and sign up for them.

Solution: A Firebase-powered web app where anyone can sign in (Google or magic link), create and manage meetups, add ideas for activities, and RSVP. Users browse the schedule, join events, and suggest new ones — turning isolation into community.
